Who we are: The First Tee of Pittsburgh (TFTP) is a nonprofit youth development organization that is part of a 175 chapter initiative of the World Golf Foundation. The mission of TFTP is: To impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Our program uses golf instruction as a vehicle to teach life skills that are based on nine core values – respect, judgment, confidence, responsibility sportsmanship, courtesy, honesty, integrity, and perseverance.
Our Pittsburgh chapter operates The Bob O’Connor Golf Course in Schenley Park and The First Tee of Pittsburgh at Pleasant Ridge in McKees Rocks. In addition we offer programs at North and South Park, Victory Hills and we work with schools, community groups, youth-serving agencies and other nonprofits to implement our Life Skills and Golf Clinics for over 1,600 children and teens each year.
Who we serve: Children ages 5-18 can join us for lessons in putting, chipping and full swing while they also learn healthy habits, goal setting, respect, courtesy and more.
