First Tee - Pittsburgh (FTP) is a nonprofit youth development organization that is part of a 175-chapter initiative of the World Golf Foundation. The mission of FTP is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Our program uses golf instruction as a vehicle to teach life skills that are based on nine core values – respect, judgment, confidence, responsibility, sportsmanship, courtesy, honesty, integrity, and perseverance.
Our Pittsburgh chapter operates The Bob O’Connor Golf Course in Schenley Park and First Tee - Pittsburgh at Pleasant Ridge in McKees Rocks. In addition, we offer programs at North and South Park, Victory Hills and we work with schools, community groups, youth-serving agencies and other nonprofits to implement our Life Skills and Golf Clinics for over 1,600 children and teens each year.
Youths ages 5-18 can join us for lessons in putting, chipping and full swing while they also learn healthy habits, goal setting, respect, courtesy and more.
